Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
Position Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned Senior SQL Server Database Administrator with over 8 years of experience in IT database operations. This role involves optimizing SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, and providing expert support for database management.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL Server Expertise: Familiarity with different editions of SQL Server to advise on optimal usage.
- Backup & Recovery: Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies, including replication and failover tuning.
- Azure SQL Experience: Experience with Azure SQL and related tools is a plus.
- Database Management: Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and manage Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Policy Establishment: Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures.
- Performance Monitoring: Provide proactive monitoring and performance tuning at the physical server, database, and query levels.
- User Management: Create user accounts and assign permissions based on access levels.
- Client Representation: Serve as L2-level support for the DBA team, engaging with account leadership, clients, application owners, and infrastructure teams.
- 24/7 Availability: Ensure the SQL Server database environment is available 24/7, including on-call responsibilities on a rotating schedule.
- Disaster Recovery: Represent the DBA team in disaster recovery and project activities.
- Technical Mentorship: Share expertise and provide mentorship and cross-training to team members.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the database environment and infrastructure.
- Collaboration: Work with system administrators, architects, development teams, and business application owners to ensure database changes align with operational standards.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to administer and troubleshoot live issues, both internal and customer-reported.
- Scripting: Create and execute scripts for necessary system functions.
- Operational Support: Handle regular IT infrastructure operations, including installation and troubleshooting of MS SQL and associated hardware/software issues.
- Audit Participation: Engage in internal and external audits to demonstrate IT compliance status.
- Communication: Maintain excellent oral and written communication skills; participate in client meetings and status reviews.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 8 yrs + years of overall experience in the IT database domain, with a proven track record in database operations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS SQL Server administration, database installation, and environment management.
- Certifications: MS-SQL certification is a strong advantage.
- Background Investigation: Ability to obtain and maintain a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).
