Job Title: National Legal Manager – Recovery & LitigationLocation: Lower Parel, MumbaiExperience: 10+ YearsJob Purpose: To lead and manage all legal actions related to recovery, arbitration, and litigation across the country. The role ensures timely legal interventions, effective case handling, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support to regional teams to improve recoveries and reduce delinquency.Key Responsibilities:1. Legal Recovery & Litigation Management • Lead and supervise all legal recovery actions including Section 138 cases, Arbitration, SARFAESI (if applicable), Civil Suits, Criminal Complaints, and Lok Adalat matters. • Strategically plan legal actions to maximize recovery from delinquent and NPA accounts. • Ensure effective litigation management by coordinating with external lawyers, law firms, and recovery agents. • Review and approve case filings, notices, and legal documentation across regions. • Monitor progress of legal cases and ensure timely closure with favourable outcomes.2. Arbitration & Pre-Litigation • Drive arbitration processes nationally for overdue and NPA accounts. • Ensure adherence to Arbitration & Conciliation Act requirements and internal policies. • Oversee the issuance of demand notices, appointment of arbitrators, and award execution.3. Lawyer & Vendor Management • Identify, empanel, and monitor external legal counsels, recovery agents, and agencies. • Conduct periodic performance reviews of legal vendors. • Negotiate fee structures and ensure cost-effective legal operations.4. Compliance & Documentation • Ensure all legal processes are compliant with RBI guidelines, NBFC norms, and internal credit/collections policy. • Vet and review legal documents including loan agreements, notices, pleadings, and affidavits. • Maintain proper records of legal files, case statuses, and MIS.5. Coordination with Internal Teams • Work closely with Collections, Risk, Credit, and Regional Legal teams to support recovery strategies. • Provide guidance to regional teams on case selection, legal routes, and documentation gaps. • Offer legal opinion for complex and escalated cases.6. Reporting & MIS • Prepare and present monthly reports on pending cases, success rates, legal costs, and recovery performance. • Maintain dashboards for arbitration awards, execution cases, decrees, and settlements.7. Policy, Process & Governance • Develop and update legal recovery policies and SOPs across the organisation. • Conduct training sessions for collections and field teams on legal recovery processes. • Implement risk controls to minimize legal/regulatory exposures.Key Skills & Competencies Required • Strong understanding of recovery laws, arbitration, civil/criminal litigation, and financial regulatory framework. • Expertise in NBFC collections processes and legal strategies. • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. • Ability to manage Pan-India legal teams and multiple external stakeholders. • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making ability.Qualifications & Experience • Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized university. • Experience: 10+ years in legal recovery and litigation in NBFC/BFSI; minimum 3–5 years leading national or large-scale regional legal functions. • Prior experience in handling arbitration, Section 138, and NPA litigation is mandat
