Position : Special Educator & Counsellor
Location: Dalhousie Public School, Siswan, New Chandigarh
Start Date: 1 March 2025

A committed and qualified Special Educator and Counsellor who understands how learning happens and is able to support students with diverse learning needs and provide guidance to young students. This role involves collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals, to create an inclusive educational environment that meets the needs of all students.
Role Overview:
- Assess students’ learning and developmental needs to create IEPs.
- Provide one-on-one/small group/classroom support to students with special needs (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders).
- Collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Advocate for the needs of students with special needs within the school community.
- Monitor & maintain records of student progress, interventions and assessments.
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students to address personal, social, emotional, and academic challenges.
- Support students with social and organisational skills, and other areas of personal development, thus building resilience, self-esteem, and positive relationships.
- Work closely with parents, teachers and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Offer proactive crisis intervention and support to students.
- Support the school discipline and well-being program and keep records.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal and the Management.
We Are Looking For :
A qualified and passionate special educator and counsellor with experience in the primary wing of a school, who has-
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Special Education.
- Certification or licensure in Special Education/ Counselling/ Psychology.
- Experience of 5-7 years of working with young students with a variety of special needs, including learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and behavioural challenges.
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development and implementation, best practises in counselling, behaviour management strategies, and interventions.
- Expertise in problem-solving and conflict-resolution.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a school environment.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach to working with students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
