Responsibilities:

  • Academic Leadership: Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs and curricula.
  • Promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration among faculty.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
  • Support faculty in their research, teaching, and service activities.
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development: Recruit and retain talented faculty members.
  • Implement effective faculty evaluation and promotion processes.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Student Success: Promote student success through academic advising, mentoring, and support services.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work with academic departments to improve student retention and graduation rates.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage the faculty budget.
  • Allocate resources effectively to support academic programs and initiatives.
  • Seek external funding opportunities to support faculty research and student scholarships.
  • Faculty Governance: Chair faculty meetings and committees.
  • Represent the faculty on institutional committees.
  • Foster a collegial and collaborative faculty governance structure.

Qualifications:

  • A distinguished academic record with a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in higher education leadership, preferably at the level of department chair or associate dean.
  • A strong record of scholarly achievement, teaching excellence, and service to the academic community.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial management and strategic planning skills.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
