Backup and Disaster Recovery Specialist

Flynaut is seeking an experienced Backup and Disaster Recovery Specialist to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of critical data through robust backup solutions and disaster recovery plans. The ideal candidate will implement automated backup solutions, develop and test recovery procedures, and maintain compliance with CMMS standards for data protection and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backup Solutions Management: Implement and manage automated data backup solutions to safeguard critical business information.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop, document, and regularly test disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure business continuity in case of disruptions.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure adherence to CMMS standards for data protection and retention, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Data Integrity: Monitor and verify the integrity of backup processes to ensure data can be restored as needed.
  • Incident Response: Act as the primary resource for data restoration during system failures or other incidents.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams to ensure backup and DR plans align with overall IT strategies and security protocols.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay updated on emerging backup and DR technologies, recommending improvements where necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in backup and disaster recovery roles or similar IT positions.
  • Proficiency with leading backup tools and software, such as Veeam, Acronis, or Commvault.
  • Strong understanding of data retention policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with CMMS standards and their application in data protection is a plus.
  • Solid technical knowledge of storage systems, cloud-based solutions, and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for resolving backup or recovery issues.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Certified Backup and Recovery Engineer (CBRE), or equivalent are highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in implementing backup and recovery solutions for hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity measures related to data protection.
  • Understanding of business continuity and risk management strategies.
