About the Role:

The Piping Lay-Out Engineer will be responsible for leading a team within a project organization on large EPC projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking a hands-on role in the development of piping concept studies and equipment layout preparations
  • Providing supervision and guidance to working engineers and designers in problem-solving
  • Understanding material and mechanical handling studies, safety layout, and good knowledge of safety equipment used in the offshore industry
  • Displaying good knowledge and understanding of process requirements in piping design and material considerations
  • Adhering to company procedures (technical, management, and QMS)
  • Planning and working independently, reporting progress and schedule to team leaders and PMT
  • Ensuring deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and tasks are completed within budget
  • Selecting resources in consultation with the head of the discipline to meet specific job requirements
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving all design documents/drawings as per project deliverables list
  • Understanding piping bulk material aspects, bulk take-offs, quantification
  • Ensuring proper detailing of pipe supports in 3D and 2D and interfacing with structural to provide clash-free models
  • Evaluating stress analysis results and providing necessary recommendations on resolving method of analysis
  • Ensuring smooth handling of 3D model gate reviews (30%, 60%, and 90%), constructability reviews, HAZOP reviews, and implementations
  • Cold eye review of piping deliverables and 3D models
  • Developing and maintaining isometric index, pipe support index, closeout report of the model review, and punch list & hold list
  • Coordinating the review and approval of vendor documents/drawings and ensuring full compliance with contract requirements and meeting company/client specifications
  • Coordinating with engineering project managers/lead engineers from other disciplines for inter-disciplinary tasks
  • Maintaining monitoring of job progress, identifying slippage and shortcomings, and setting solutions and remedies in consultation with the project manager
  • Handling queries arising from clients, comments from approval authorities, contractors, or other disciplines, and providing sound judgment while handling projects of brownfield nature
  • Developing training and skill development plans for graduate trainees and mid-level engineers
  • Effective weekly progress reports (project status and resource utilization)
  • Working knowledge of international codes and standards like ASME B 31.3/B31.4/B31.8, ASTM, API, BS, MSS SP, NACE, and ABS
  • Experience with 3D software work such as E3D/PDMS and AutoCAD is valued-added
