Job Summary

As a Staff Engineer R&D at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be part of a dynamic team driving innovation in CMD technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in domain, instruments, engineering, or software and a proven track record in driving innovation and successfully completing POC initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and guidance to a team of engineers in domain knowledge, instruments knowledge, engineering, and software activities.
  • Drive key CMD initiatives and take ownership of the CMD lab team in supporting hardware and software for NPDI projects.
  • Foster innovation within the team by supporting the development and execution of proof-of-concept (POC) projects.
  • Continuously enhance the team's product knowledge and capabilities through ongoing learning and training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery of results.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in CMD technology to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in CMD-related roles, with a strong background in domain, instruments, engineering, or software.
  • Proven track record in driving innovation and successfully completing POC initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and empower a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multi-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach.

  • Capable of working in a matrixed organization, collaborating with multiple groups and team members.
  • Ability to develop a strategic understanding of the Thermo Scientific brand, bioanalytical industry, instrumentation, consumables, and software.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (verbal & written) skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • Consistent track record of managing diverse individuals and teams and delivering results on time.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high-reaching approach.
  • Collaborative approach to developing and sharing strategy, tactics, and analytics.
  • Independent and self-starting, with the ability to set goals and direction for self and others.
  • Ability and confidence to prioritize focused, targeted strategies when faced with wide business direction choices.
