The Role of a Field Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed technical plans for the commissioning phase of energy storage projects, ensuring seamless integration with various stakeholders.

  • Act as the primary point of contact between Trina Storage and clients on-site, effectively coordinating tasks with subcontractors and maintaining open communication channels.

  • Collaborate closely with professionals from diverse disciplines to implement and manage a comprehensive commissioning schedule, working in tandem with overseas colleagues from Trina Storage.

  • Produce regular reports, monitoring and addressing any deviations from the planned schedule to ensure timely project completion.

  • Engage in follow-up meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, facilitating effective coordination and cooperation among all parties involved.

  • Ensure that energy storage structures are installed and maintained in accordance with established standards set by Trina Storage.

  • Participate in routine maintenance activities for energy storage infrastructure, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact project progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in energy storage service engineering, with hands-on site experience and a strong understanding of electrical and electronics principles.

  2. Ability to handle commissioning, pre-commissioning tests, performance test verification, and other related tasks efficiently.

  3. Effective management of spare parts inventory, including record-keeping, documentation, and timely notifications to the service manager regarding stock levels and estimated quantities based on failure rates.

  4. Excellent tool maintenance skills, ensuring the safekeeping of equipment and tools.

  5. Ability to oversee and assign tasks to third-party service partner technicians, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting to higher management.

  6. Strong customer support skills, providing assistance through various channels such as phone and email, frequently interacting with customers both on-site and remotely.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Electrical or electronics engineer (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical experience in electrical projects, including substations, power lines, or LV/MV cables. Experience with energy storage infrastructure (BESS) is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of BESS PCS and all related supporting and subcomponents.
  • Solid experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
