About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team at Worldline. As a key member of our production support team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Linux systems, hardware, and software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain Linux systems, hardware, and software.
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures are up to date and support our business requirements.
  • Assist project teams with technical issues and participate in different business projects as a technical expert.
  • Define needs, benefits, and technical strategy, taking into account budgetary aspects and adherence to standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system availability checks, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to check that all mechanisms put in place send their information to the central logger, adapt server configuration to regulations (e.g., PCI).
  • Investigate and troubleshoot system-related issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a technical background, such as engineering or computer science.
  • Linux Red Hat and CentOS knowledge is mandatory.
  • Networking knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Apache, JBoss, or Tomcat is a plus.
  • Positive attitude for problem-solving; ability to deal with various problems and propose different solutions.
  • Teamwork capability is essential; ability to comply with reporting rules in place.
  • Good communication skills; ability to interpret and exchange information with others.
  • Ability to work in an international environment with established standards.
  • Passive knowledge of the other official Belgian language is a plus, or will have to be acquired on the job otherwise.
