About the Role

At BNI, we are seeking a highly skilled Associate Legal Counsel to join our team in Bangalore, India. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in helping our leaders worldwide proactively manage risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team of in-house attorneys and compliance teammates in managing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on new and existing laws that impact the business, ensuring that our operations are aligned with the latest legal requirements.
  • Oversee the legal matters of the business, leveraging expertise of external counsel where necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of the company's legal documents and operations, providing guidance to stakeholders as needed.
  • Facilitate filings of licensing forms and other statutory requirements, ensuring timely compliance.
  • Develop and implement policies and controls to help the organization avoid distractions and maintain a strong reputation.
  • Provide general education throughout the organization on matters of importance, ensuring that all employees are aware of their roles in maintaining a compliant and risk-free environment.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of commercial legal experience, with at least three years in an in-house setting.
  • Experience in transactions, legal compliance training, intellectual property, HR matters, managing external counsel, and vendor contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with franchising law is a plus.
  • Law degree with high grade point average and bar credentials.
  • Strong references, clean background, customer service orientation, and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent English oral communication skills and high level of professional confidence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, fun, and collegial environment.
  • Comfortable with international travel.

Working Conditions:

This is a sedentary work position, requiring up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion is also required, with substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

This is a full-time, exempt paid position. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
