Cisco SDN ACI Engineer Job Description

About the Role :

  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing complex data center networks, working with fabric, and integrating with virtualization and automation platforms.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, implement, and maintain fabric-based SDN solutions
  • Configure components: policies, contracts, EPGs, and tenants
  • Troubleshoot and optimize deployments and fabric connectivity
  • Integrate with third-party systems (e.g., VMware vCenter, firewalls, monitoring tools)
  • Manage migrations and network transformations to ACI architecture
  • Develop and maintain related documentation and runbooks
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure policy enforcement
  • Assist in network automation (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting for API)
  • Monitor and resolve issues, incidents, and changes via ITIL processes

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Required Skills :

  • Strong hands-on experience with ACI, APIC, and fabric components
  • Good understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS
  • Familiarity with Nexus 9000 series switches (NX-OS/ACI mode)
  • Experience in integrating ACI with VMware (vDS, vCenter)
  • Understanding of multitenancy, VRF, BD, EPG, and contracts in ACI
  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Python, REST API, Ansible)
  • Network monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco DCNM, SolarWinds, etc.)

Preferred Skills :

  • Cisco certifications preferred: CCNP Data Center, CCIE Data Center
  • 5–10 years of experience in enterprise networking and 3+ years in ACI
