Elevator Electrical Systems Engineer

Job Overview:

The successful candidate will drive model-centric design at Otis as a Digitalization and Standardization expert. This role involves the application of E3 design standards, review of electrical components and subsystems, and the promotion of best practices worldwide. The selected candidate will create methods and practices, articulate the latest tool applications, and develop efficient training programs for a timely and sustainable transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and integrate elevator electrical subsystems, understanding control system requirements, motor and VF drive interfaces, electrical codes, and application software fundamentals.

  2. Develop concepts of electrical sub-systems, review and create electrical component and sub-system design requirements.

  3. Propose and integrate alternative drives, machines, controllers, and other electrical components in the event of product obsolescence.

  4. Select and size key electrical components for the electrical sub-system designs, including relays, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, protection systems for both control and power circuits.

  5. Support electrical system calculation and analysis for cable sizing, power converters sizing, machine sizing, heat release calculations, and power supply designs.

  6. Participate in the design reviews of the electrical sub-system.

  7. Understand and perform failure and risk analysis using Otis tools PROCERT, FMEA, RAMP, RRCA, DoE, etc.

  8. Verify electrical component level qualification in a system.

  9. Project planning, global stakeholder management, risk forecast and mitigation, effective operations management, and improve customer MFA.

  10. Hands-on experience in AutoCAD tool, and knowledge on the E3/EPLAN tool will be an added advantage.

  11. Exposure in managing the communication with global engineering teams.

Requirements:

  1. Delivery of electrical components and sub-system design meeting OTIS standards of safety, quality, and design.

  2. Timely trouble shooting support in resolution of technical problems related to electrical systems and components.

  3. Delivery of electrical designs on time meeting requirements and within cost targets.

  4. Improvement in design quality through the reduction in design errors and escapes to the field.

  5. BE with 5 years of experience.

  6. Elevator experience of 2 years will be an added advantage.
