This role presents an exceptional opportunity to work with locomotive control systems, designing and developing control functions across various subsystems. The successful candidate will have the chance to interact with multiple subsystems, driving innovation and improvement.

The Senior Technical Architect - Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, guiding them in the design and development of locomotive control systems. This includes defining function requirements, conducting dynamic analysis, and identifying failure modes.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers in the design and development of locomotive control systems
  • Planning individual and team work for assigned projects and product features
  • Providing timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Driving process improvements and simplification initiatives to enhance quality and productivity
  • Reviewing and refining system-level requirements to ensure alignment with design intent and control system capabilities
  • Designing control application architectures that are robust against configurability needs
  • Defining control requirements and allocating them to applications to meet system-level functional requirements
  • Defining interfaces among control applications within software
  • Supporting V&V through advancements in MIL and SIL capabilities and processes
  • Preparing and presenting technical design decisions and results to internal and external customers as necessary
  • Ensuring proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Preparing invention disclosures to protect technology providing a competitive advantage
  • Providing technical support for proposal development

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience. Additionally, they should be able to support hands-on validation in simulation laboratories and on-locomotives, as well as travel as required. Preferred qualifications include experience with Matlab/Simulink, SysML, design and validation of electro-mechanical systems, and working knowledge of Wabtec locomotives and control system functionality.
