Role Overview

This is a key role within our MEP services sector, requiring a Senior Engineer with expertise in Fire and Life Safety systems. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, advice, and building technical capabilities, as well as lead by example in this field.

The selected individual will manage selected projects (or components of projects), meeting technical requirements, budgetary, quality, safety, and timeframe targets while exceeding client expectations. They will also promote and assist in brand building of Arcadis in India, supporting the recruitment process.

The ideal candidate will actively participate and contribute to our Global Engineering Consultancy (GEC) professional group and externally at seminars and conferences. They will build networks within the building services industry and develop relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage selected projects (or components of projects), taking responsibility for design, managing the production of deliverables (including drawings and reports), ensuring the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance, and client feedback.
  • Provide input to the GEC sector strategy/business plans, as required, and contribute towards its achievement.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure they understand and become engaged with sector/discipline business plans.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager or Director and the client to keep informed of all developments, changes/modifications associated with the project.
  • Identify opportunities and drive implementation of standardization strategies to enhance efficiencies at GEC.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and technical advice to project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential, leading by example to achieve sector/divisional goals, and championing a quality, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture.
  • Be familiar with and compliant with relevant H&S and CDM regulations and promote a culture of awareness within the team.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by your manager as required from time to time.
  • Train and develop teams' technical capabilities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
  • 10-15 years' experience in design of Fire and Life Safety systems, including Fire strategy, Fire detection, and alarm systems, and Fire protection.
  • Experience in Fire smoke management and analysis, including CFD.
  • Solid domain knowledge in international regions.
  • Proven design experience, including concept, preliminary, detailed, construction phases.
  • Ability to develop, check, and review technical specifications, design basis reports, etc.
  • Very good appreciation of health, safety, and CDM aspects related to typical Rail systems projects.
  • Ability to carry out design and check/reviews independently.
  • Familiar with international codes like NFPA, BS Fire, and other fire and life safety codes.
  • Design experience in PHE of international projects is an added advantage.
  • Preferred professional accreditations like CEng.
  • Experience within a consultancy environment.
  • Ability to work in 3D design environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with good report writing, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Ability to think innovatively and entrepreneurially, with a good understanding of commercial aspects of a project.
  • Good motivation, influencing, people management, and delegation skills.
  • Knowledge of code and standards and practices of Building Services Industry.
