Senior FinOps Engineer Position Overview

A career-defining opportunity awaits a seasoned Cloud Financial Operations Leader to join ANSR, driving cloud financial operations to optimize usage and costs across multiple platforms. This strategic role involves collaborating closely with various teams to develop cost optimization strategies, establish best practices for cloud cost management, and ensure financial transparency and operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Analyze and improve cloud resource utilization to minimize waste while maintaining performance through cloud cost optimization techniques.
2. Negotiate with cloud providers to secure optimal pricing and discounts on behalf of the organization.
3. Develop and enforce policies and governance frameworks for cost transparency and control within the FinOps department.
4. Design and implement real-time reporting tools and dashboards for cloud spending insights to support executive leadership decisions.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve cloud efficiency and policy adherence through training and education initiatives.
6. Implement automation tools for tracking and optimizing cloud costs, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
7. Identify and implement ongoing cloud cost optimization strategies, leveraging expertise in cloud billing analysis and forecasting.
8. Regularly audit cloud accounts for proper resource allocation and cost accuracy to maintain regulatory compliance.
9. Develop cloud cost budgeting and forecasting processes aligned with business objectives, fostering strategic decision-making.
10. Provide cross-functional support in FinOps projects that enhance accountability and governance, promoting a culture of transparency and collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. 3+ years of experience managing AWS or Azure Cloud environments and financial controls, demonstrating expertise in cloud cost management and optimization.
3. Proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), with knowledge of cloud native tools and technologies.
4. Proven analytical skills in cloud billing analysis and forecasting, with ability to interpret complex data and drive informed decision-making.
5. Familiarity with cloud cost management tools and automation, including scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and Terraform, CloudFormation for automation tasks.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills:
1. Cloud Native Tools: Proficiency with monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor, enhancing visibility into cloud resources and costs.
2. Other Tools: Familiarity with Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus for data visualization and analytics.
3. Financial Background: Strong grasp of financial accounting principles related to cloud computing, ensuring accurate cost tracking and optimization.
4. DevOps & CI/CD: Experience integrating financial management in DevOps practices, streamlining cloud deployment and cost optimization.
5. Multi-Cloud Management: Experience managing costs across multiple cloud platforms, maximizing return on investment and minimizing costs.
6. Change Management: Expertise in driving the adoption of cloud financial practices, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
7. Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell), Terraform, CloudFormation for automation tasks, simplifying cloud cost optimization and management.

Certifications (Preferred):
Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Certified Solutions Architect) and FinOps certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner) demonstrate commitment to cloud financial operations excellence.
