Reliability Engineer Position

  • Execute incident, change management, and problem management processes
  • Build and support a reliable application suite for the environment
  • Provide technical support in life cycle planning, integration, systems programming, and problem management

Key Responsibilities include ensuring platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, and tuning. The role also involves constantly working to improve and implement automation of applications tasks and providing technical support for systems/platforms according to application SLA's.

Responsibilities also include designing and developing resiliency in the application code, troubleshooting incidents, engaging with squads to address failure patterns, and participating in incident management.

Strong troubleshooting ability is required, as well as leading calls or contributing in a logical fashion to resolve issues before they become incidents.

The role requires identifying and articulating the severity of impacts using provided monitoring tools and escalating as needed. It also involves understanding architecture and design of applications and identifying or narrowing focus for an incident based on symptoms.

Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and prevent recurring problems.

Monitor, manage, and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.

Implement changes to platforms with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise standards and procedures.

Design and document enterprise standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in an applicable IT field, three years of applicable experience in the design/administration/support of one or more platforms, and experience as a Systems Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications include a Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and experience with VMWare VDI implementations.
