Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Architect to join our team at Virtusa. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing large-scale, cloud-native systems using domain-driven design (DDD), API, microservices, and event-driven architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop architecture vision and strategic architecture solutions that align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, and future industry demand.
  • Architect large-scale target state Trade and Working Capital systems end-to-end, leveraging hands-on expertise in leading design using DDD, API, modern patterns, microservices, event-driven, and cloud-native technology.
  • Provide leadership to strengthen architecture review processes, continuous maturity of architecture practices, architecture community of practices, and tech debt management.
  • Interface across several channels, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in defining direction for future projects.
  • Create solution architecture artifacts that are consistent with architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices, with a goal of resilient and scalable cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership in subjects key to the business and lead portfolio simplification strategies to rationalize application landscapes.
  • Own the definition and execution of shift-left architecture governance processes.
  • Interface with vendors to assess their technology and guide their product roadmaps based on Citi requirements.
  • Lead design sessions with engineers and stakeholders to create innovative solutions.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) and proof-of-architecture (POA) on potential solutions with a failure-fast mindset to drive target-state adoption.
  • Design common business functions and capabilities within the TWCS ecosystem to simplify technology footprints and accelerate time-to-market.
  • Own and drive solution evaluations and build-vs-buy/partner analyses.
  • Communicate technology visions, strategies, and solutions across communities and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide expert knowledge of architecture and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to cross-functional teams.
  • Provide architectural leadership and conduct assessments to adopt cyber, risk, and control patterns and solutions.
  • Act as an active learner of technological innovations, trade industry trends, and competitor landscapes.
  • Be an advisor to the engineering organization to adopt modern engineering practices such as Continuous Architecture, Inner Sourcing, Code Management, DevOps, and SRE.
  • Act as an advisor and mentor to team members to grow solution architecture skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).
  • Banking/Financial/Trade/Payment experience is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in developing architecture vision and strategic solutions.
  • Experience with modernizing and migrating applications to strategic architectures.
  • Expertise in building solutions with DDD, API, microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native principles.
  • Expertise in modern languages (Java), messaging, integration, and data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, MQ, etc.), caching, and database (RDBMS and NoSQL) tools, application development frameworks (Spring Boot, .NET), well-architected frameworks, data integration solutions, software architecture patterns, and tools.
  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Experience in architecting solutions with Gen AI, LLM, and ML tools.
  • Awareness of industry trends and leveraging new technologies as appropriate.
