Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Content License Accountant to manage our content licensing agreements and ensure accurate accounting practices. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for setting up and accounting for content license contracts, reviewing and documenting agreements, evaluating their financial impact, and facilitating invoicing for content creators and vendors.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain cross-functional relationships within the organization. You will work closely with our legal, procurement, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth contract management and collaborate with stakeholders to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Content License Contract Management: Set up and maintain accurate records for content license contracts, review and document content license agreements to ensure compliance and proper accounting treatment.
- Accounting for Owned Content: Monitor and account for owned content, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. Track usage and depreciation of owned content as applicable.
- Financial Evaluation: Analyze and evaluate the impact of content contracts on financial statements, including forecasting and budgeting. Prepare financial reports related to content licensing activities.
- Invoicing and Vendor Management: Facilitate invoicing processes for content creators and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate billing. Work with vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Receipt Tracking and Reconciliation: Track receipts and reconcile them with ledger balances to maintain accurate financial records. Prepare and present reconciliation reports to management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain effective cross-functional relationships with legal, procurement, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth contract management. Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a content licensing or media environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with content licensing and media contracts is a plus.
