Job Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the effective operation and maintenance of plants and equipment, including the performance of preventive maintenance schedules, engineering maintenance requests, and new work orders are performed and correctly recorded.
  • To ensure each section of the Engineering department is managed effectively, resulting in maximizing productivity and quality of work.
  • To ensure the effective operations management of the engineering department by setting maintenance standards, implementing preventive maintenance programs for all engineering utilities, and ensuring that performance of equipment are regularly monitored and reviewed.
  • To provide a monthly work plan to DOE/CE for approval.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • To report to CE on all aspects of engineering environmental controls and the operational efficiency of the property.
  • To ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures.
    Ensure that any tests and inspections required on plant by statutory authorities are carried out as and when required, and that all records and documentation associated with such tests and surveys are correctly kept and/or displayed.
  • To ensure the effective operation of all the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program. Closely monitor the condition of the physical property and equipment by conducting continual inspections of the building.
  • To plan and implement a preventive maintenance program to try and achieve zero defects for all equipment in the Hotel.
  • To ensure that plant and equipment is correctly operated to suit the needs of the hotel.
  • To coordinate and assist management of hotel on internal campaign and activities of energy conservation programme.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • To control Capital Project Planning in liaison with management to ensure capital funding is effectively allocated and budgeted in accordance with company directives and philosophy.
  • To contribute to the hotels profitability by ensuring the effective management of the buildings environmental controls and energy conservation systems. Evaluate control and record energy usage and implement and upgrade energy conservation systems.
  • To ensure the cost-effectiveness and technical efficiency of all services performed by outside contracts by close supervision. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with contracts leases services agreements and warranties.

Administration Responsibilities:

  • To ensure preventive maintenance schedules are performed and correctly recorded.
  • To report to DOE/CE of any out-of-order equipment that will affect hotel operation.
  • To notify DOE/CE of any non-productive equipment use.
  • To ensure Engineering maintenance requests are performed and correctly recorded.
  • To report to DOE/CE of any maintenance requests that is more than 1 month outstanding.
  • To inspect daily all plant rooms, kitchens, service outlets, and record any defects for rectification.
  • To ensure new work orders that have been approved by DOE are performed and correctly recorded.

Employee Handling Responsibilities:

  • To ensure a technically competent engineering staff by selecting, training, and developing a motivated well-qualified maintenance team. Carry out regular work sampling studies within the department and evaluate the performance and productivity of personnel.
  • To provide training of all department staff to ensure efficient operation, proper maintenance, and repair to equipment as well as good morale.
  • To prepare a monthly training schedule for the department as per need of staff members and monitors their progress.
  • To acquire and put into practice the multi-skilling in the engineering staff.
  • To notify the DOE/CE of any breach of the hotels employee rules and regulations.
  • To work with Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • At least 2-year college (associate) degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in the same field in hospitality.
