Job Summary

This role involves performing financial and operational audits at WM, providing opportunities for individuals to work with a world-class international team environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the Internal Audit and Controls department's strategic initiatives by focusing on continuous improvement, cost savings, and effectiveness of the control environment. They will collaborate with counterparts in the US, where WM's headquarters are located.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist cross-functional and cross-border teams in audit activities for operational efficiency, cost control, and compliance with established plans, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate audit activities, including managing individual audit projects that review financial and operational processes.
  • Oversight of the SOX compliance program and maintenance of databases used for internal control documentation and testing efforts.
  • Review process and walkthrough documentation, collaborating with process owners to ensure compliance with the SOX program, including testing key controls, developing compensating controls, identifying deficiencies, and creating remediation plans.
  • Closely work with the corporate team and HQ team (Houston, Texas - USA) for reporting and ad-hoc requirements.
  • Ensure internal controls governance and take corrective action for improvement. Drive automation, process improvement, and productivity through effective data analytic techniques to aid in audit and control testing.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels across the organization, building strong relationships to advance Internal Audit and Controls (IAC) strategic initiatives and foster career development.
Requirements

The ideal candidate should have experience in internal or external audit, preferably with Big 4 firms (external audit, internal audit, offshore/CoE), as well as knowledge of basic accounting and financial statements. Previous experience in a Shared Services environment is also preferred. Additionally, the following skills are essential:

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
