Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Design, analyze, and develop parts and assemblies for capital equipment and semiconductor systems, with a focus on engineering design optimization for cost.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify material cost reduction opportunities through BOM analysis or product and CAD teardown, and report on cost drivers and functional analysis.
  • Project Execution: Lead end-to-end project responsibilities, exceeding cost targets while executing different phases of VAVE from project opportunity creation to engineering execution and completion with BOM cut-in.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to evaluate design or manufacturing constraints upfront in engineering development, and develop engineering proposals with alternate cost-effective solutions.
  • Design Validation: Validate design using simulation, prototype tests, hand calculations, and Lam standard design practices with BKM practices and write-ups.
  • Technical Review: Drive technical review meetings and PDR phased executions.
  • Interference Analysis: Analyze assemblies and sub-systems for interference and tolerance stack-up calculations.
  • Engineering Specifications: Define and develop engineering requirement specifications for sub-assemblies/sub-systems.
  • Documentation: Release engineering drawings, documentations, and BOM using engineering change management processes completing PLM/Teamcenter-based activities.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure documentation consistency with SEMI, Lam Standards, and other applicable standards (ANSI, DIN, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: B.E./B.Tech./Masters in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing with a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Product Development and Design: Strong product development and design experience in mechanical design, with hands-on experience with capital equipment machine tools, special-purpose machines, and complex assemblies of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Cost-out Experience: Relevant years and project experience with cost-out as one of the primary objectives.
  • Alternate Manufacturing Processes: Demonstrated knowledge in alternate manufacturing processes, exhibiting DFm practices.
  • Material Selection: Selection of materials and OEM components (fasteners, valves, gauges, fittings, etc.).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and business presentation skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge in GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and interference calculations.
  • CAD Skills: Proficient in 3D modeling, assembly, and detailing using any CAD packages, preferably CREO.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building: Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities within and outside the team, and collaboration to identify and execute cost savings opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Semiconductor Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience on semiconductor equipment and its sub-systems (chambers, vacuum systems, gas delivery, plasma, and/or thermal reactors) is a plus.
  • Complex BOM Structure: Handled complex BOM structures comprising multi-commodity parent-child compositions.
  • Project Management: Exposure to project management.
  • TRIZ, Six Sigma Certification: TRIZ, Six Sigma certification (DFSS/DMAIC) or experience with Lean Design is an added skill.

'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
