As a Cloud Operations and Engineering Expert at UnitedHealth Group, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality care to millions of people worldwide. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with software engineering teams to evaluate system specifications and provision application infrastructure on AWS.
  2. Develop and drive AWS architecture decisions to ensure the stability, reliability, and availability of applications and services.
  3. Create and maintain infrastructure as code (IAC) using Terraform and configuration management using Ansible or Chef.
  4. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
  5. Administer Windows and Linux servers, including configuration, patching, and ensuring overall server health.
  6. Practical experience with EKS, Envoy, API gateway, and Service Mesh is required.
  7. Analyze existing application infrastructure and recommend modifications to enhance application reliability, availability, and scalability.
  8. Participate in capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
  9. Utilize APM and other monitoring tools to identify performance issues and bottlenecks.
  10. Work with log aggregation tools like Splunk.
  11. Proficiency in programming with Python or Java is essential.
  12. Solid analytical problem-solving skills are required.
  13. Additional responsibilities as determined necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  1. 6+ years of hands-on experience with AWS.
  2. 4+ years of proficiency in DevOps tools and technical knowledge to use them for continuous integration, continuous delivery, pipelines, and Git version control.
  3. 4+ years of experience with infrastructure automation and monitoring tools, including Splunk, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  4. Expertise in Docker, K8S, Helm, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and AWS IaaS (Compute, Storage & Network).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in migrating and transforming existing systems to the cloud using AWS tools and best practices.
  2. Expertise in identifying and mitigating infrastructure security vulnerabilities.
  3. Expertise in managing cost-optimized infrastructure setups.
  4. Expertise in setting up monitors, triggers, alerts, and managing infrastructure setup on high availability and reliability standards.
  5. Solid skills in AWS networking, such as configuring VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, Transit Gateways, and VPNs.
  6. Proven problem-solving and analytical skills to handle complex challenges and issues.
  7. Proven team player attitude and willingness to collaborate with others.
  8. Knowledge of Terraform for cross-platform cloud provisioning.
  9. Specialization in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) for container orchestration.
