The Information Services Scrum Master role at Expeditors is a key position that helps coach agile teams of 8+ people responsible for delivering and maintaining systems supporting our business excellence.

The Scrum Master is accountable for coaching and mentoring team members, ensuring they have the necessary training and tools to perform their jobs effectively. They support team growth, fostering a healthy and performing team environment.

This servant-leadership role involves understanding program-level processes and execution, driving continuous development, managing risks, and escalating impediments.

Main Responsibilities:

Cultivating Lean-Agile Mindset:

  • Coach the lean-agile mentality and techniques to the team.

Fostering Team Collaboration:

  • Mediate conflicts within the team and foster a collaborative and productive working environment.

Eliminating Impediments:

  • Identify and eliminate impediments obstructing the team's progress, working closely with stakeholders.

A Strong Understanding of Scrum Principles:

  • A strong understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and Agile methodologies is essential.

Agile Release Train:

  • Members of the agile release train, such as scrum masters, agile team members, and business owners, should know the lean-agile mentality and techniques.

Assisting Product Owner/Product Manager:

  • Assist the product owner/product manager in getting ready for PI.

Improving Flow of Work:

  • Help teams with feature estimation and the aggregation of estimates for larger pieces of work like capabilities and epics by planning and ensuring the vision, roadmap, and program backlogs are ready.

Enhancing Continuous Delivery Pipeline:

  • Using the agile release train, they must improve the flow of work.

Promoting DevOps Principles:

  • Promote DevOps principles inside the organization to aid in the design and continuous enhancement of a continuous delivery pipeline.

Collecting Program Flow Measurements:

  • To assist continuous improvement, collect program flow measurements and other important metrics.

Cultivating Lean-Agile Methods:

  • Couch Lean-Agile methods and mindsets to leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters.

Risk Management:

  • Assist in the management of risks and dependencies.

Escalating Impediments:

  • Impediments should be escalated and tracked.

Resourcing Bottlenecks:

  • Contribute to the resourcing of major bottlenecks.

Encouraging Teamwork:

  • Encourage teamwork as well as System and Solution collaboration.

Collaboration between Teams:

  • Architects/Engineering Collaboration between the Product and the Solution.

Ensuring Strategy and Execution Alignment:

  • Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders will assist in ensuring that strategy and execution are in sync.

Leadership and Problem-Solving:

  • Resolve contingencies and complicated issues, provide leadership to project teams, and act as a consultant/coach to management.

Evaluating Development Operations:

  • Evaluate the Development Operations and improvise :
