Finance Manager Job Description

The Finance Manager plays a critical role in driving business growth and success by providing strategic financial guidance and support to cross-functional teams. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
    • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes to inform business decisions.
    • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
    • Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Accounting & Financial Reporting
    • Ensure accurate books of accounts are maintained in compliance with Indian GAAP / IFRS.
    • Finalize accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, meeting regulatory requirements.
    • Manage reconciliations, general ledger scrutiny, and variance investigation to maintain financial integrity.
  • Taxation & Compliance
    • Handle direct and indirect tax compliance, including Income Tax, GST, and TDS, ensuring timely filing of tax returns and accurate documentation.
    • Coordinate with consultants/authorities for assessments and regulatory queries to mitigate risks.
  • Auditing & Internal Controls
    • Support statutory, internal, and tax audits with schedules and documentation, maintaining transparency and accountability.
    • Strengthen internal controls and risk management processes to ensure financial stability.
    • Assist in regulatory reporting requirements as applicable, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Business Partnering, SOPs & Process Improvements
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive finance-related initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
    • Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for finance functions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Design and manage automated processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
    • Define and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely delivery of finance activities.
    • Support automation and process enhancement in financial operations, driving continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualification
    • Chartered Accountant (CA)/ MBA Finance or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2-3 years post-qualification experience, preferably in FP&A, accounting, and taxation roles.
  • Preferred Background
    • Service industry, consulting firms, or CA firm exposure, with a strong understanding of financial systems and processes.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong knowledge of FP&A, Indian accounting standards, taxation, and auditing.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, with exposure to Tally, SAP, or other ERPs.
  • Soft Skills
    • Analytical mindset, strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to work in dynamic environments.
