Job Title: Debt Collection Manager

Job Overview:

  • A senior collection professional will oversee the debt recovery process within an organization.
  • Their primary objective is to ensure timely payment from customers or clients, working closely with the Finance Department and external partners.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop strategic plans for effective debt recovery, analyzing customer behavior and trends.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, identifying overdue payments and determining suitable actions to resolve them.
  • Communicate effectively with customers or clients to negotiate settlement agreements and resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including sales and customer service, to address billing and payment-related inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, including interactions with customers and resolution status.
  • Analyze delinquent accounts and provide detailed reports on overall collections performance.
  • Implement and enforce credit policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Consult with legal counsel or external agencies as needed to handle complex or difficult cases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; a master's degree may be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in debt collection management, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, particularly as they relate to accounts receivable and debt recovery.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, enabling effective interaction with customers and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset, capable of assessing data and trends to develop targeted collection strategies.
  • Familiarity with debt collection software and tools for managing accounts receivable.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, enabling handling of challenging situations professionally and ethically.
