Job Summary:

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Team Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, with a minimum of 16 years of experience in civil/structural works on infrastructure, energy, and M&M projects. The selected candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams and coordinating projects, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals for projects of varying complexity.
  • Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendations.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Reviews all civil and structural drawings and design calculations for substations and transmission lines.
  • Reviews analysis and design of substation gantry structures (tower & beams), transmission line towers, and their foundations.
  • Reviews design of outdoor switchyard foundations, control room buildings, guard houses, car parking, boundary walls, roads, pump houses, DG foundations, cable trenches, drains, and grade slabs.
  • Maintains good working relationships with OEMs, material suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders that affect the quality, schedule, and cost of projects.
  • Creates purchase requisitions, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to book invoices from vendors, and reviews the work of junior team members.

Requirements:

  • 16-20 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 4-year degree from an accredited college in Civil Engineering.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a relevant subject.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a broad understanding of major design engineering deliverables.
  • Plans, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Performs work using standard application programs and appropriate computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools.
  • Coordinates engineering effort in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors, and between other groups.
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods, including computerized methods.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other disciplines like Plant Layout and Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Geotech, and Construction.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
  • Experience in leading a team of engineers and designers in EPC and/or big FEED projects.
  • Capable of planning, assigning, guiding, and monitoring work of team members.
  • Capable of assuring quality of design and associated deliverables.
  • Experience in design of substations and transmission lines.
