About the Role

Gartner is seeking a Data Engineering Lead with expertise in cloud-based data models. This individual will join a team dedicated to developing and supporting Gartner's data warehouse and various data products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and automate data pipelines and applications to support data scientists and researchers.
  • Participate in architecture design and implementation of high-performance, scalable, and optimized data solutions.
  • Integrate data from various sources, including on-premise databases and external sources via REST APIs and harvesting tools.
  • Collaborate with internal business units and data science teams to address data access, processing, transformation, and reporting needs.
  • Manage AWS and Azure resources (EMR, ECS clusters, etc.) and continuously improve the deployment process.
  • Support provisioning, monitoring, configuration, and maintenance of AWS and Azure tools.
  • Promote and integrate new cloud technologies to enhance capabilities and reduce costs.
  • Support automation efforts across the data analytics team utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Implement data governance, access control, and security measures to identify and reduce risks.
  • Utilize Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Design Synapse workspaces, integrate Power BI, and conduct performance benchmarking and configuration assessments.
  • Understand database methodology, data analysis, data flow, SQL queries, ETL, and BI applications.
  • Provide technical leadership for data and BI network design, ensuring low latency, high security, and high performance.

Requirements:

  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational database concepts.
  • Experience with reporting tools, Power BI preferable.
  • Experience with ETL tools, Azure Data Factory preferable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Design and Development of Cloud based data models, Azure experience preferable.
  • Experience in reporting, analytic, model development, and/or data science.
  • Strong desire to improve upon their skills in software development, frameworks, and technologies.
