Job Overview
This SAP BI Developer-BW/Datasphere/BOBJ Developer role involves developing enhancements, creating new applications, and supporting Valvoline's application portfolio by leveraging comprehensive technologies to serve use cases effectively. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, estimating, designing, testing, modifying, and implementing new or existing solutions in reports. Troubleshooting issues within reports, tools, or architecture used to create reports is also essential. Interacting with business partners to outline their requirements during the development phase ensures accuracy and delivery of those recorded requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining BusinessObjects reports, universes, and dashboards to support business needs.
- Creating, managing, and deactivating user accounts, assigning and managing roles, and permissions to ensure proper user access levels.
- Migrating changes to higher environments.
- Developing data pipelines, integrating data, managing databases, and performing optimization activities.
- Participating in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to reports, universes, and data sources.
- Staying updated on the latest SAP BI technology and best practices to enhance reporting capabilities and efficiency.
- Possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in SQL, and experience with SAP BI tools.
- Having a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Demonstrating excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Adhering to established standards, guidelines, and methodologies.
Performance Monitoring and Health
- Hands-on experience with BOBJ, Datasphere, and SAC monitoring is beneficial.
- Experience with basic BIP administration is advantageous.
- Proficiency in hands-on application development in BW, Datasphere, and the SAP Business Objects suite.
- A deep understanding of SAP Business Objects reporting and analysis tools, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and Analysis for MS Office.
- Familiarity with semantic layer/universe design and development using IDT.
- A good grasp of data visualization best practices.
- Conducting research on data acquisition opportunities and developing APIs to retrieve data.
- Performing maintenance and configuration changes to existing applications as needed.
Innovation and Research
Remaining current with the latest trends in data science and technology and proposing innovative solutions to enhance data utilization is crucial.
Data Governance
Participating in establishing data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, consistency, and security.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in SAP BI development, preferably in BW and/or HANA and SQL data sources.
- Knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects reporting and analysis tools, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and Analysis for MS Office.
