About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal SDE to join our M65 Security Engineering team at Microsoft. As a Principal SDE, you will be responsible for designing, building, and running cloud services at large scale in C#, .Net, or any high-level programming language.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the overall system architecture for a critically important and high-impact space protecting M365 services across clouds.
  2. Maintain the operations of live services as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.
  3. Write well-designed code with an emphasis on quality, maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  4. Analyse security threats to M365 and build monitoring components to address those threats.
  5. Solid understanding of design and implement to enable real-time, highly scalable, performant, and sustainable solutions.
  6. Deliver automated and well-tested features across different services and platforms.
  7. Use engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle to establish maintainable, reliable, and secure systems.
  8. Collaborate with teammates in various roles to plan and execute on key deliverables.
  9. Work in a culture of continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth.
  10. Learn quickly from your peers, projects, and interactions with customers.
  11. Provide on-call support and monitor the health of services in production as part of DevOps culture.
  12. Execute the Dev-Sec-Ops approach to software delivery by designing, coding, testing, deploying, and operating components of Microsoft 365 security monitoring system.

Requirements

  1. 12+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and running cloud services at large scale in C#, .Net, or any high-level programming language.
  2. Excellent coding skills, strong understanding in OOPS, design patterns, and their application.
  3. Self-learner with passion for technologies.
  4. Must know Secure by Design principles.
  5. Outstanding ability to both work independently and coordinate across geographies.
  6. Outstanding ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to a variety of cross-group stakeholders.
  7. Strong organization skills, a bias for action, and ability to deliver results.
  8. Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and drive for clarity.
  9. Excellent ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, ramp quickly, and meet demanding deadlines.
  10. Outstanding communication skills and collaboration capabilities.
  11. Self-learner with passion for technologies.
  12. Able to deep dive in complex areas and self-drive.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Excellent knowledge of cloud-computing environments like Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP - Azure preferred.
  2. Hands-on experience in an object-oriented programming language such as C#, Java, or Scala.
  3. Strong software design and problem-solving skills.
  4. Experience with modern software services engineering practices such as testing in production, live monitoring, data-driven engineering.
  5. Rapid prototyping and iteration skills.
  6. Experience with web service development and familiar with related technologies.
  7. Basic automation scripting skills with PowerShell and developing modules.
  8. Experience building and shipping production-grade software or services.
  9. Experience using agile methodologies or test-driven development (TDD).
  10. Rapid prototyping and iteration skills.
