Job Title:

Database Administration and Oracle Performance Expert

Description:

The Database Administrator plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of our database operations. This includes monitoring database performance, optimizing query execution plans, deploying code efficiently, managing access, and conducting thorough database analysis.

This position requires working with Oracle and Exadata databases to create new database objects, investigate performance issues, and monitor data retention. The ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively is essential for success.

  • Support ongoing database re-platforming efforts to Exadata, providing expert-level technical support.
  • Implement and review data loading scripts related to Golden Gate data replication.
  • Optimize SQL queries and indexes in Oracle to enhance performance.
  • Strong programming skills using PL/SQL are a plus, as well as proficiency in performance tuning with SQL Trace, Explain Plan, Indexing, and Hints.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle 12c, 19c, and Exadata capabilities is required.
  • Expertise in Oracle architecture, database triggers, indexes, and partitioning is expected.
  • Ability to read Query Execution Plans and evaluate/improve SQL performance characteristics.
  • Manage database objects such as tablespace, users, indexes, roles, privileges, profiles, and synonyms.
  • Monitor memory usage, backups, active sessions, long-running queries, tablespace configuration, and space allocations.
  • Collaborate with data architects and analysts on schema building, tables, functions, views, stored procedures, and roles.
  • Provide DBA supervision and guidance for custom application development and routine database administration efforts.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a logical and physical DBA, including expertise in Oracle Exadata.
  • Extensive knowledge of database data movement and processing, including Golden Gate and Informatica ETL.
  • Familiarity with agile methodology and JIRA workflow processes.
  • Working experience with TOAD or Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who thrives in team environments.
