Job Title: Lab Instructor

The Kumaraguru College of Technology is seeking a skilled Lab Instructor to join our Mechatronics Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in managing and conducting practical sessions related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Electronic Devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Setup and Maintenance:
    • Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratory equipment and materials for PLC and electronic devices labs.
    • Perform regular checks and maintenance of PLC systems, electronic testing instruments, and devices used in practical sessions.
    • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and is calibrated as required.
  • Student Assistance:
    • Assist students in conducting experiments and using laboratory equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Guide students in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with PLC programming and electronic circuits.
    • Provide additional instruction or clarification on lab assignments and practical exercises.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all students adhere to laboratory safety standards and protocols.
    • Enforce safety regulations concerning the handling of electronic equipment and power sources.
    • Conduct safety briefings and ensure proper use of protective equipment.
  • Collaboration with Faculty:
    • Work with academic staff to design and implement lab sessions that align with the course curriculum.
    • Suggest improvements in lab facilities, experiments, and equipment.
    • Assist in grading lab assignments and reports as required by faculty members.
  • Inventory and Resource Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels of lab equipment, tools, and components, and request purchases as needed.
    • Keep detailed records of experiments, student performance, and lab usage.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and electronic devices.
    • Prior experience working in an academic or laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in PLC programming languages.
    • Strong understanding of mechatronic systems, sensors, actuators, and electronic circuits.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronic systems.
    • Good communication and instructional skills.
    • Ability to manage students and handle administrative tasks.
