Project Management in the Aviation Industry

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Techno-Functional Project Manager with a strong background in the aviation industry. This role requires over 10 years of expertise in managing complex projects that integrate both technical and functional aspects.

The ideal candidate will be adept at collaborating with various stakeholders, optimizing operational processes, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. This position demands strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of aviation industry standards, and proficiency in project management and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution:
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycles for aviation-related projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Oversee multiple IT projects, including cloud-based solutions, ensuring alignment with scope, timeline, and budget requirements.
  • Implement Agile methodologies to enhance team collaboration and project efficiency.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely and successful delivery.

Technical and Functional Expertise:

  • Liaison between Technical Teams and Functional Teams:
  • Act as the liaison between technical teams (software developers, engineers) and functional teams (operations, business units) to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Translate Business Requirements into Technical Specifications:
  • Oversight of Development and Integration of Technical Solutions.
  • Financial Insights and Decision Support:
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning activities.

Operational Optimization:

  • Collaboration with Department Heads:
  • Work with department heads to analyze and optimize operational processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Risk Mitigation in Airport Operations and Customer Services:
  • Identify and mitigate risks in airport operations and customer services, leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintenance of On-Time Performance Metrics:
  • Ensure high standards of safety and service.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management:

  • Negotiation and Contract Management:
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage contracts with vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies and goals.

Performance Reporting and Analytics:

  • Development of Performance Reports:
  • Establish and track key KPIs for business and financial metrics.
  • Data and Analytics Projects:
  • Lead a team of professionals in delivering data and analytics projects on time and within budget.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Team Leadership and Motivation:
  • Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
  • Employee Feedback and Training:
  • Conduct regular training sessions, manage employee feedback processes, and foster a supportive work environment.

Strategic Planning and Compliance:

  • Strategic Planning and Oversight:
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, maintaining oversight of budgets and resource headcount requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, including emergency response procedures.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintaining Open Communication Channels:
  • Maintain open lines of communication and foster cross-departmental collaboration through regular meetings and team-building activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with a significant portion in the aviation industry.

Skills:

  • Complex Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects with a techno-functional approach.
  • Airline Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of aviation industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana).

Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification preferred.
