Role Description:

As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessments and permitting projects. You will be expected to support the delivery of environmental studies, environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and associated studies and compliance activities for the regulated industry sector in North America.

The environmental team of North America works across a wide range of industrial sectors, including transmission lines, energy (including renewable, nuclear, oil and gas, hydrogen), waste, food and drink, chemicals, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality work within strict deadlines.
  • Support a mix of operational and technical work, including:
    • Identifying and interpreting regulatory requirements.
    • Leading regulator liaison and consultation with other stakeholders.
    • Reviewing site sensitivities and environmental constraints.
    • Developing and reviewing environmental management systems.
    • Completing environmental risk assessments.
    • Developing, reviewing, or updating environment management plans and contingency plans.
    • Preparing mitigation plans, odour management plans, and noise management plans.
  • Manage a wider team of junior staff, including overseeing team project delivery, quality, training, development, and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in or related to Environmental Engineering/Environmental Legislations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a portfolio of environmental impact assessment/environment management/environment policy projects.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience working on ESIA, ESDD, E&S management plans, and E&S monitoring and performance services of major international projects involving funding agencies.
  • Deep understanding of international E&S standards, including Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, and World Bank EHS Guidelines.
  • Strong mathematical skills, covering quantitative analysis, data manipulation, statistical modelling.
  • Experience navigating and interpreting environmental legislation.
  • Reviewing data and maps to identify site sensitivities and environmental constraints.
  • Industrial process knowledge and experience (in one or more of the sectors listed above).
  • Qualitative and/or quantitative risk assessment (e.g. air, water, land, noise, odour, dust, climate change).
  • Data collection, manipulation, and presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear and concise reports in English.
