Senior Storage Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Storage Engineer to join our team at Western Digital. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for validating our enterprise storage products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Product Validation: You will be responsible for testing and validating our enterprise storage products to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Performance Benchmarking: Hands-on experience in performance benchmarking of JBOD/JBOFs is essential for this role.
  • Root Cause Analysis: You will need to analyze performance issues and triage them effectively.
  • Collaboration: You will interact with engineers within the team and across other teams in the company to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Quality Delivery: Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality products by performing all necessary QA job functions.
  • Bug Finding and Issue Triage: Contribute majorly towards bug finding and issue triaging.
  • Firmware and Hardware Debugging: Debug firmware and hardware issues with SSD/HDD, storage products through systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot/isolate issues to root cause, down to the right component in the test ecosystem.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Perform continuous monitoring of tests and test suites with different builds.
Requirements
  • Experience: 4-6 years of experience in Server/Storage QA automation & testing with SSDs, firmware, and storage subsystems.
  • Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Storage Servers, Storage Arrays – JBOD, JBOFs, NAS, SAN.
  • Protocols: Working knowledge of SAS, SCSI, NVMe, and PCIe protocols.
  • Debugging Skills: Working knowledge on SSD and debugging skills is a plus.
  • Hardware and Software Interaction: Understand Hardware and Software interaction.
  • SAS/PCIe Analyzers: Working knowledge on SAS/PCIe analyzers is a plus.
  • Automation Framework: Ability to write Python/Go/shell scripts for test automation and contribute towards automation framework is a plus.
  • White Box Testing: White box testing knowledge is a plus.
  • Software Development Life Cycle: Understand Software development Life Cycle.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to achieve results in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Time Management: Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Motivation: Self-motivated and self-driven.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.E / B.Tech /M.E/M.Tech - E.C.E/CSE/IT
  • Industry Experience: 4-6 years of industry experience in the field of storage/networking/server domain with strong fundamentals.

  • Software Development Lifecycle: Excellent knowledge in Software development lifecycle and engineering processes.
  • Global Teamwork: Capable of working as part of a global development team spanning across geos.

  • Agile Methodology: Be an Agile team member with TTM as a goal with high-quality deliveries.
