Advanced Mechanical Engineer for Carbody Shell Development

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the development of carbody shells. This is a critical role that requires strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills.
As an Advanced Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering outputs that meet the company's QCD commitments. Your primary focus will be on designing and developing carbody shells for various transportation systems.
This role involves managing the design for quality (DFQ) and quality control department (QCD) of projects from beginning to end. You will deploy processes and standards according to ALSTOM's internal and customer-specific needs. Additionally, you will lead multiple areas of work on new product development (NPD) and carryover products.
You will organize and lead your work package reviews for the project you are in charge of. This includes managing risk assessment and mitigation plans, planning project delivery for CBS domain, and aligning with stakeholders the delivery schedule. You will identify resource requirements based on planning and align the work plan.
Key responsibilities include designing and leading multiple areas of work on NPD/carryover products, organizing and leading work package reviews, managing risk assessment and mitigation plans, and planning project delivery for CBS domain.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of vehicle architecture and systems and their methods of installation. They will also support Train Design Engineers/Metier Managers in establishing product designs and reviews to meet project deadlines.
Skills required include structural design, sheet metal design, CATIA V5/V6, PLM/DMA/ENOVIA, functional dimensioning and tolerancing, and GD&T. A good awareness of product cost drivers and ability to optimize solutions to achieve cost-effective products is also essential.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience. The job requires 11+ years of experience in core structural design of rolling stock/automotive BIW/Aircraft structure. Experience in structural design and sheet metal design, as well as knowledge of welding processes and standards, is also necessary.
In addition to technical skills, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
