Job Summary

The Cloud Automation Engineer role is part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), responsible for delivering cloud solutions to application teams based on customer requirements. A cloud automation engineer implements scalable, available, and secure architecture solutions, adhering to architectural standards, service availability, cost, network, security, storage, and governance considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of requirements and manage engagement to automate onboarding Cloud services through a service catalogue.
  • Familiar with Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment.
  • Assist senior colleagues with continuous delivery systems and methodologies on public cloud providers.
  • Assist in implementation of software development life cycle to deliver Cloud solutions.
  • Assist in the development of automated solutions to monitor and support software development and release processes.
  • Deliver automation of security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
  • Manage and maintain tools to automate operational processes.
  • Assist in implementation of solutions based on architectural best practices and established architectural frameworks, with guidance from a senior member of CCoE.
  • Assist with design and implementation of available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable systems, with help from senior members of the CCoE team.
  • Assist with implementation of cloud architecture solutions, based on defined standards for CCoE - from an application and infrastructure perspective.
  • Assist with delivery of simple cloud architecture patterns and implementations based on customer requirements.
  • Assist with implementation of lift and shift of existing on-premises applications to public clouds.
  • Assist with the analysis of the application portfolios and migration feasibility.
  • Assist with integration of cloud infrastructure/network environment with corporate infrastructure/on-prem environment.
  • Assist with design of reference architecture for implementation of codified stacks that meet the needs of the applications.
  • Educate team members to implement based on best practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to accelerate cloud learning among peers.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of cloud automation practices (in one or more modular areas - Auto-scale infrastructure provisioning, automated infrastructure testing, automated monitoring).
  • Knowledge of automation services like - Lambda, API Gateway, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline.
  • Familiar with / basic understanding of working in an Agile/Scrum.
  • Familiar with / basic knowledge of cloud computing technologies.
  • Familiar with public cloud design principles, architectural best practices, and industry standards.
  • Prior programming background in at least one language: C++, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Familiar with / basic knowledge of building IaaS and PaaS solutions.
  • Knowledge of technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization.
  • Familiarity with / knowledge of cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges.
  • Familiarity with one or more IaaS platforms like OCI, AWS, GCP, etc.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures.
  • Experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience in design, development, and deployment of business software at scale.
  • Experience of managing challenges of migrating systems and workloads to the Cloud.
  • Experience in Software design patterns (microservices, messaging, distributed architectures).
  • Understanding of infrastructure and application security.
  • Understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of IT compliance and risk management requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards.
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
  • Ability to take 'ownership' with a high sense of urgency and work like an 'entrepreneur'.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Certifications: Cloud Automation Engineer.
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Foundations.
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect - Associate (good to have).
  • CyberSecurity and Oracle Cloud Certification (good to have).
