Database Administrator Role

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing database support as part of a team for Big Data tools. Your duties will include maintenance tasks, performance tuning, monitoring, and developer support.

You will also provide administrative support for the application toolset required to code, test, and troubleshoot applications for new development and on-going support. This includes application administration, job scheduling/execution, and code deployment.

In addition, you will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation responsible for enterprise job scheduler activities. This may involve assisting various teams with troubleshooting code, connection, and data integrity issues.

You will follow documented ITIL processes to complete incidents, requests, and other tasks utilizing a service management system.

As a Database Administrator, you will create and/or update technical documentation related to team activities as needed.

You will also be responsible for installation, upgrade, and configuration of application toolset.

Maintaining regular and predictable attendance is also essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years work experience in IT
  • Experience with Cloud Database Administration (Snowflake, Vertica, Redshift, Impala, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Experience with installing and configuring commercial applications at the OS level
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with scripting in Linux and Windows
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge
