## Distributed Database Lead Role at Jio

### Overview

We are seeking an experienced Distributed Database Lead to join our team at Jio. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of distributed database environments, including Hadoop, Kafka, and Spark.

### Key Responsibilities

* Lead and participate in RFP processes to design and architect distributed datastore solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to meet evolving business needs.
* Develop and implement methodologies to offer distributed database services on IaaS and PaaS models, ensuring the IaaS and PaaS offerings are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
* Design, implement, and manage containerized distributed datastores environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
* Develop container orchestration strategies to improve scalability and manageability of distributed database solutions.
* Design, implement, and manage automation solutions for database deployment, management using tools like Ansible & Jenkins.
* Evaluate and select appropriate distributed technologies and platforms such as Hadoop, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Spark. Develop and implement a strategy for distributed databases in alignment with business objectives.
* Design and implement replication strategies to ensure data redundancy, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities across distributed environments.
* Plan and execute data migration strategies between different datastore platforms or versions, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
* Optimize data indexing strategies to improve query performance and data retrieval efficiency in distributed datastore environments.
* Monitor and analyze data growth patterns, resource utilization, and performance metrics to forecast capacity requirements and plan for future scalability.
* Conduct performance analysis and tuning of Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, and Elasticsearch components to maximize efficiency and throughput.
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of distributed datastore configurations, procedures, and best practices. Provide training and mentorship to team members as needed.

### Requirements

* Proven experience in managing RFP processes and vendor evaluations.
* Proficiency in replication strategies, data migration, indexing techniques, and capacity planning for distributed datastore environments.
* Strong understanding of distributed computing principles, data consistency, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies.
* Experience with performance tuning and optimization of distributed datastore solutions to achieve optimal throughput and latency.
* Strong understanding of distributed computing principles, Hadoop ecosystem components, and best practices for cluster management.
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Perl for automation and scripting tasks.
* Extensive experience with automation tools, specifically Ansible and Jenkins.
* Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

### Certifications

CCAH / CCAK / Elastic Certified Engineer certifications is highly desirable.
