ICF seeks a highly skilled Energy Market Specialist to contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills.

The role will be focused on providing end-to-end Interconnection support for projects in various ISO/RTO queues, including Tariff Advisory, Interconnection Applications, and Interconnection Strategy/analysis.

  1. Prepare Interconnection Applications, including steady state, short-circuit, and EMTRP models. Responsible for timely submittal of requests and client management.
  2. Collect and analyze data for power flow modeling projects, including Transmission Plans, interconnection queues, and upgrades, expected system changes.
  3. Perform power flow and stability analysis on interconnection models, affected system studies, material modification, etc.
  4. Assist in load flow analysis of transmission and distribution systems, including steady state, contingency, and dynamic analysis.
  5. Lead data input, output processes, and maintain datasets, templates.
  6. Research and keep the broader group updated on latest power market developments in prominent ISO/RTO markets.
  7. Support modeling and policy analysis related to transmission, renewable energy, smart grid, and distribution.
  8. Develop process efficiencies and automation.
  9. Prepare high-quality written and electronic products.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Power/Energy systems or a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Power Flow analysis and/or Interconnection studies analysis is required. Industry-standard power flow tools, such as GE-PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, CYMDIST, TARA, ASPEN, and PSCAD, are essential skills. Strong quantitative and/or modeling skills, database management, and data analysis skills are also required. Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and VBA) skills and knowledge of Excel macro programming and other programming languages are necessary. Good research skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communications skills are also essential.
