Data Science Director

We are looking for a Data Science Director to lead our Business Insights and Analytics team at Lilly. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence solutions to drive business growth and improve customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape and deliver work for the data sciences organization within BI&A.
  • Take ownership of people and work processes for both the Data sciences and ML Ops team.
  • Build a strong innovation and process-focused culture.
  • Work closely with LCC to plan and build these capabilities to meet strategic needs.
  • Build and leverage relationships with stakeholders across BI&A, other Commercial Services, and Lilly IT (IDS) teams.

Program/Project Delivery:

  • Scale and manage the Data Sciences team, help data scientists take ownership and deliver best outcomes, focusing on quality and productivity.
  • Lead high-quality delivery on Data sciences overall, deliver class-leading data sciences solutions that are scalable across all customer groups.
  • Actively lead and drive change through the capability, leading a strong leadership team to support accelerating Reach and Scale.
  • Create a framework for communication, project management, and execution across teams to help drive best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand key result areas, ensure expansion and penetration of data science use-cases.

People Leadership:

  • Develop a pipeline of data science talent and leadership, and contribute to an inclusive community of data analytics practitioners/thought leaders.
  • Proactively operate to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
  • Conduct quarterly/annual performance reviews of the team and motivate team to achieve excellent results.

Strategic Growth and Thought Leadership:

  • Strategize on key opportunities/whitespaces, drive discussions, and expand outcomes from LCCI for data science solutions.
  • Focusing on the future business needs and expand capabilities of the group.

Requirements:

  • 16+ years of experience with strong understanding of advanced analytics, ML, and AI with relevant experience designing and implementing solutions.
  • Relevant experience in developing and deploying enterprise AI/ML application in AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrate the ability to drive, lead others, and influence others outside of their sphere of influence.
