The Role

We are seeking a skilled Database Administration Lead to coordinate the operation of several complex database files. This role involves performing aspects of database administration, including hardware and software evaluation, logical and physical database design, structured testing, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Communicate Effectively: Communicate and understand the impact of database changes to affected parties and make recommendations as needed. Maintain hardware platforms to perform at optimum response, capacity planning, and implementation of new databases due to conversions.
  2. Collaborate with Project Managers: Consult with project managers to design appropriate solutions and assist development teams with application schema designs, applying best practices.
  3. Lead Application Commissions: Commission and install new applications.
  4. Develop Database Solutions: Assist in leading a task force to develop and implement a database that addresses business needs, advising on new database technologies, trends, and features.
  5. Policies and Procedures: Develop, revise, and implement policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment.
  6. Backup and Recovery Planning: Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
  7. Databases for High-Availability Applications: Design, tune, maintain, and support database systems for highly available, high-volume internet applications.
  8. Independent Judgment: Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  9. Attendance and Flexibility: Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required; ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.

Expected Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred, but Comcast also considers applicants with relevant coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
  • Relevant Work Experience: 5-7 years of experience.
