The Impact You'll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you will be involved in designing mechanical, electro-mechanical systems, pneumatically actuated systems, and contributing to chamber coated parts design and development. You will provide crucial design information needed to shape our next products. In this role, you will directly contribute to new product engineering of Lam Etch products.

What You'll Do

• Position will be owning, executing, and realizing results per allocated project and contribute to short-term and long-term departmental goals and objectives. These projects will be driven as part of New Product Development (NPD), Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction, and/or reliability improvement initiatives.

• Understanding and attaining execution of all Lam business processes, standards and compliances, and best practices.

• Effectively working in the matrix organization by aligning with all stakeholders without compromising on "Quality, Delivery & Cost (QDC)" to meet departmental objectives.

• Position will be owning, executing, and realizing results per allocated project and contribute to short-term and long-term departmental goals and objectives. These projects will be driven as part of New Product Development (NPD), Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction, and/or reliability improvement initiatives.

• Understanding and attaining execution of all Lam business processes, standards, and compliances, and best practices.

• Leading and realizing project or program commitments consistent with established business processes and by adhering to all engineering due diligence (DFMA, dFMEA, tolerance, calculations, FEA – static and dynamic, DFX).

• Develops and presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.

• Develops and executes test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design.

Who We're Looking For

• Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Mechanical engineering with minimum 8 years of relevant experience. (or)

• Master's in Mechanical engineering / Thermal / Material Science with minimum 4 years of relevant experience

• Hands-on experience of product design and development experience with capital equipment or similar comprising of thermo-mechanical, electro-mechanical systems of high complexity with execution knowledge of NPD development & associated engineering due diligence.

• Hands-on experience to take design from concepts (OEM components, sheet metal, metal machined, and weld assembly, plastics, and ceramics would be a big plus), detail engineering (Tolerance analysis, dFMEA, 8D problem-solving, RCCA, 5-why, DFMA), test plan, testing, etc. & through detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, build verification, customer qualification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned, and closure.

• Ability to work well in a matrix organization with aggressive deadlines, ability to align on priorities, etc. while focused to realize end objectives (NX, drawings, GD&T, standards, change mgmt. process).

• Have in-depth understanding of materials and processes such as thermal spray coatings (APS, HVOF), cold spray, and physical vapor deposition (PVD).

• Have hands-on experience on performing and in-depth understanding of metallographic techniques, microscopy, mechanical testing, Scanning electron microscopy, electron dispersive spectroscopy. Ability to interpret and conclude on characterization/test results.

• Have relevant familiarity with industry standards related to coatings and characterization techniques.

• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.

• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
