Job Title: DevOps Engineer III

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer III to join our team at Xalt Consulting. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud-based infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bridge the gaps between core infrastructure, security, QA, and development teams.
  • Owning the end-to-end availability, performance, and capacity of applications and their infrastructure.
  • Providing 24X7 infrastructure and application support, building processes, and documenting knowledge.
  • Mentor and train L1 engineers and continually improve application and infrastructure support processes.
  • Managing application deployment and GKE platforms, automating and improving development and release processes.
  • Creating, managing, and maintaining datastores and data platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Owning and onboarding new applications with the production readiness review process.
  • Managing SLOs, error budgets, alerts, and performing root cause analysis for production errors.
  • Working with core infrastructure, Dev, and Product teams to define SLOs, error budgets, and alerts.
  • Working with the Dev team to have an in-depth understanding of application architecture and its bottlenecks.
  • Identifying observability gaps in application and infrastructure and working with stakeholders to fix them.
  • Managing outages and doing detailed RCA with developers and identifying ways to avoid that situation.
  • Automating toil and repetitive work.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in managing high-traffic, large-scale microservices and infrastructure with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, managing, and deploying containerized environments using Docker/containerd, Kubernetes is a must.
  • Proficiency with Helm and experience in service mesh like Istio, Linkerd.
  • Hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting Kubernetes environments.
  • Extensive experience with Linux administration and a good understanding of various Linux kernel subsystems.
  • Extensive experience in DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, GRPC, Routing, and Load Balancing.
  • Expertise in GitOps, Infrastructure as a Code tools like Terraform, and Configuration Management tools like Chef, Puppet, Saltstack, and Ansible.
  • Expertise in Google Cloud (GCP) and/or other relevant Cloud Infrastructure solutions like AWS or Azure.
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Spinnaker, and Argo.
  • Experience with multiple datastores is a plus (Kafka/RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch).
  • Proficiency in DevOps scripting languages like Python or Go.
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, and deliver.
  • Deep understanding of computer science, software development, and networking principles.
