About the Opportunity
Wind River Systems is seeking a solutions-focused, collaborative, and personally driven technical manager to lead a team of development engineers responsible for the development and verification of various aspects of Wind River's VxWorks.
Responsibilities
- Managing a team of developers and verification engineers contributing to ongoing releases of Wind River VxWorks and Hypervisor-based Device Software.
- Estimating, planning, and executing development projects with experience in agile development methodology.
- Working with a team of other development and program managers to coordinate work and ensure delivery of projects and products.
- Process development and implementation for the direct team and department.
- Interfacing with various parts of the company, including QA, Engineering Operations, Product Management, and Marketing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 15 years of progressive experience in software development, with 7+ years of VxWorks BSP or Device Driver development, CPU adaptation, or similar hardware-oriented OS development.
- 3 years of people/project management experience in an engineering environment.
Core Competencies and Demonstrated Success
- Intimate knowledge of at least one modern CPU architecture, with the ability to extend that knowledge to other CPUs.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and RTOS development tools.
- Exceptional team player with a track record of successful collaborations and working well in diverse, distributed agile environments.
- Good understanding of software product development processes and software team communication/coordination approaches.
- A blend of technical expertise and soft skills, with strong technical writing and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with certified software and certification processes, such as DO-178C or ISO-26262.
- Software Engineering experience with the full development lifecycle and processes, agile and scrum project management tools, and Scrum certifications.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration tools and processes.
