Backend AI Engineer Job

Our mission at Elimai.ai is to empower India's key institutions by leveraging their data for solving critical issues. We develop software that comprehensively analyzes data, providing insights previously inaccessible.

We are building Generative AI-native solutions that power applications across healthcare and fintech. As a Backend AI Engineer, you will design, build, and scale production-ready AI systems combining strong software engineering fundamentals with applied machine learning expertise.

This full-time hybrid role offers flexibility to work from home part-time in Chennai. Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining backend architecture, implementing machine learning algorithms, ensuring efficient performance, and collaborating with front-end developers.

  • Build robust backend systems & APIs to deploy and scale ML solutions.
  • Work with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS) to design cost-efficient, high-availability ML pipelines and scalable cloud-supported backend solutions.
  • Implement ML lifecycle workflows — from experiment tracking to orchestration.
  • Contribute to end-to-end product development: data ingestion, preprocessing, model serving, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with founding engineers to embed intelligent agents, predictive models, and decision-making capabilities into backend workflows.

To succeed, you will need a Bachelor's / Master's degree in CS, Data Science, AI/ML, 1-3 years of experience in backend development, and expertise in MERN, Python, Golang, Java, PostgreSQL, NoSQL/MongoDB, MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, Azure AI, Git, GitHub/GitLab, code reviews, unit testing.
