Main Responsibilities of the Head Teacher

We are seeking a Head Teacher who can provide a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that meets the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional developmental needs of the children in their care. The successful candidate will be a team player, acting as a role model for the team of teachers and staff by exemplifying the right values and code of conduct while planning and executing sessions, events, and trips, and interacting with parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for every child in the class.
  2. Ensure effective utilization of resources and minimize waste.
  3. Enhance the appeal of the center/class with appropriate displays, learning resources, and fun activities.
  4. Stay well-versed in school policies and ensure adherence to them at all times.
  5. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents.
  6. Plan and execute engaging and enriching activities and sessions that promote a fun and stimulating learning environment.
  7. Develop and implement lesson plans in advance, ensuring that they are aligned with the curriculum and meet the needs of the children.
  8. Conduct regular observations and assessments of children to monitor their progress and identify areas for improvement.
  9. Plan and execute events, trips, and celebrations in collaboration with colleagues.
  10. Ensure the safety, health, hygiene, and security of the children and other staff members.
  11. Guide and support assistant teachers and support staff as needed.
  12. Notify the center head of any areas of concern.
  13. Interact with parents to discuss child progress and other needs.
Personal Qualities and Skills Required

The ideal candidate will be a calm and composed individual who is a good team player, demonstrating professional behavior while interacting with team members and parents. They will be able to act as a guide to colleagues in times of doubt and help them make appropriate decisions and actions. They will set an example and show colleagues how to do things more effectively and efficiently.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage time, resources, and stress effectively.
  • Knowledge of early child development milestones and child-related concepts and practices.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to be creative and engaging in work and storytelling.
