We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Business Intelligence (BI) team at American Express Global Business Travel.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned leader to own and manage a team of engineers responsible for enterprise BI Platform and Analytics solutions. As a key member of our Technology function, you will create technical solutions, provide direction, and drive innovation in a fast-paced agile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead the BI Engineering team to achieve product vision and strategy.
  • Create a long-term and quarterly roadmap to improve efficiency and make a meaningful impact.
  • Effectively support multi-work stream engagements, prioritize client requests, and work objectives using project management methodologies and tools.
  • Manage a geographically diverse team across USA, Canada, UK, and India.
  • Act as an escalation point and remove impediments to achieving goals and objectives.
  • Drive innovation and manage teams within a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Effectively manage issues and risks that arise during the lifecycle of the project/engagement.
  • Coach, guide, and promote the creation of high-quality, clearly documented, and compliant deliverables across teams.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in analytical end-to-end solutions.
  • Experience building and managing complex, large-scale enterprise functions with resilience.
  • Good understanding of BI and Data Processing technologies like Tableau, Alteryx, Python, Redshift/Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree where coursework could include Statistics, Computer Science, or Information Technology. Candidates with a master's degree are preferred.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining applications.
  • Experience in writing requirements specifications and collaborating with engineers and designers to produce a high-quality product.
  • Experience designing multi-tier web application architecture.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Tools like Azure DevOps/Jira.
  • Strong understanding of development using HTML5, CSS/SASS/SCSS, and JAVASCRIPT, Django & Rest Framework.
  • Good knowledge of Python, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Travel domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and present/discuss work results in a compelling manner.
  • Team player, flexibility/ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
