Role Description:

This position supports the Ecological team in our Environmental Planning group by providing environmental reports to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out ecological desk studies to inform field surveys and ecological assessments.
  • Undertaking high-level environmental constraint studies.
  • Collating data for preliminary ecological appraisals.
  • Identifying habitat types and species distributions in accordance with national standards.
  • Calculating habitat losses and gains through spatial data sets.
  • Preparing supporting information for investigations of protected species.
  • Converting large data sets into usable formats.
  • Supporting data analysis and report preparation within the team.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate academic qualification in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental management standards and national biodiversity conventions.
  • Experience in ecological consultancy or biodiversity conservation.
  • Good understanding of taxonomic classification and basic ornithology knowledge.
  • Understanding of national bat species or transferable knowledge from other regions.
