Job Title: Senior SEO Strategist - News Media

Company Overview: Republic World is a leading digital news media platform seeking an experienced Senior SEO Strategist to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of technical SEO, keyword research, and content optimization.

Salary: ₹1,200,000 - ₹1,500,000 per annum (estimated)

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Senior SEO Strategist to drive our search engine rankings, improve website visibility, and enhance user experience. As a key member of our digital marketing team, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies that align with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough site audits to identify areas of improvement for technical SEO, including site architecture, page speed, mobile optimization, and crawlability.
  • Optimize website infrastructure for better indexing and ranking by search engines, ensuring scalability and performance under high traffic conditions.
  • Implement strategies to optimize website load speed, particularly for mobile users, and work closely with developers to improve Core Web Vitals metrics.
  • Develop and prioritize SEO efforts based on keyword research and trends in the news cycle, optimizing on-page SEO elements, including titles, meta descriptions, headers, and URL structures.
  • Implement structured data (Schema.org) to enhance rich snippets, such as news articles, events, and how-to guides, and ensure proper usage of AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) for news content.
  • Monitor and report on site performance, keyword rankings, and organic traffic using SEO tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, etc.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders, proactively monitoring for algorithm changes and adjusting SEO strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that SEO best practices are incorporated at every stage of content creation and website development, providing SEO training and guidance to non-technical team members.
  • Stay current with the latest SEO trends, best practices, and algorithm updates, especially those related to news and media websites.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior SEO Specialist or similar role, ideally within the news or media industry.
  • Strong technical SEO skills, including experience with site audits, on-page optimization, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tags.
  • Proficiency in SEO tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or custom-built platforms.
  • Familiarity with Core Web Vitals and mobile-first design principles.
  • Knowledge of structured data and implementing Schema Markup (especially NewsArticle schema).
  • Familiarity with AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and optimizing content for mobile-first experiences.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and collaboration tools like JIRA or Trello.
  • Strong understanding of SEO performance metrics, keyword research, and analytics.
