Job Description

Our expertise lies in enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. We undertake research towards advancing next-generation missions and technologies (NGM&T).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tool design strategies to meet project requirements.
  • Design tools for layup, assembly, and drill fixture review, fabrication, and qualification.
  • Conduct tolerance stack up analysis to determine component tolerances and incorporate them into tool design.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to quality tools and moulds for production release.
  • Establish maintenance schedules and calibration schedules for moulds, tools, and fixtures.
  • Monitor and control CAM files and programs for manufacturing components.
  • Design, develop, and manufacture quality aids like templates, inspection jigs/fixtures, go/no-go gauge, etc., for inspection processes.
  • Modify and dispose of manufacturing tools to support production part builds.
  • Experience with production tool strings, assembly instructions, tool order creation, tool liaison, and Geometric Dimensioning Tolerances (GDT).
  • Rapidly tool composite, jig, and assembly parts for pre-production runs.
  • Participate in cross-functional activities.
  • Mentor teams working in the discipline.
  • Document processes and artifacts.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in GD&T concepts and drawing interpretation.
  • Skilled in CAD software such as CATIA and Solidworks - Drafting, Part Design, Assembly, Generative Shape design.
  • Understanding of various tools, jigs, fixtures, and patterns used in mechanical industries.
  • Preparation of engineering drawings for metallic, plastic, and composite parts.
  • Familiarity with standard mechanisms.

Basic Requirements:

  • BE/B.Tech (Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering) with 4+ years of experience in tool design in a UAV/Aerospace/related industry.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in Tool, Jig, and Fixture design for metals, plastic, and composites.
  • At least 1+ year of experience in managing team workload distribution.
